This storm’s electricity refused to be fenced in! Although the updraft area of the supercell was more worthy of scrutiny from a tornado-potential standpoint (none ultimately occurred), and several bright, staccato anvil CGs had slammed around the area shortly before, the visible lightning was concentrated in the forward-flank core by the time I found a good place to pull off and observe. Fortunately one of those flashes repeated enough to allow the good ol’ finger-press photographic method to work, being as it was still rather unsafe to get out and set up a metal tripod! Kelvin-Helmholtz waves can be seen in the chunk of fractocumulus scud at upper middle, behind which the discharge traveled.
