Complex storm evolution in nearby parts of Mexico led to a small but severe bow that raced eastward across the Rio Grande Valley and nearby coastal plain of south Texas. Deep and extensive turquoise coloration characterized the core behind the arcus the entire way. We gave up on staying ahead after this, figuring the time was right to think about both lodging and a sunset. Aiming for the backside of this complex, for what turned out to be a brief but glorious show, would involve some hard driving through blinding rain and close lightning between here and Uvalde, and around flooded roads in that town. No surprise, given this look!
