Sparkles in Jokulsarlon
Normally, photography back into the bright glare of the sun isn’t a great idea, but rules have exceptions. If I were fixated on what was visible with the sunshine behind or abeam of me, this scene forever would be lost; instead, it became one of my favorites among many from Iceland’s dazzling iceberg lagoon, Jokulsarlon. The water-smoothed clarity of the ice, blackened in swaths with embedded mineral grains, contrasted marvelously with the bright, sparkling glacial water and the brooding turquoise translucence of the big berg behind.
