Shelfie Six Pack: Dark Back
[Part 6 of 6] Before departing the area, the outflow current and its shelf cloud had one more strange and interesting twilight view to give: a darkening base, made mysteriously menacing in appearance by virtue of an incomplete view through the trees. I deeply, innately enjoy this kind of ominous light on land and in the sky. The base was related to unseen convective towers getting very deep above. Several minutes thereafter, we heard thunder to the south, as the towers quickly matured into a thunderstorm over the Noble area. Rain from the complex that produced this arcus passed north and east of us, while new cells formed to the south, leaving us dry. That afternoon, storms would form to our west and slide southeast, also barely missing us, and rendering a well-defined rain hole at this location for the entire event. [Back to Part 1]
