Season’s End
Soon after sunset, we reached the eastern topographic dropoff toward Minnesota from the Coteau des Prairies, and abandoned pursuit of a disorganizing, outflow-sucking supercell that formerly was quite spectacular. It would be the final storm intercept of the 2012 Great Plains vacation for us. Fittingly, the adventure ended with this lovely textured sky, composed of both silhouetting scud and high clouds reflecting the twilight colors of a light source receding farther below the horizon. So it was: yet another springtime storm season’s closing act, painted for us in a kaleidoscopic farewell, an experiential time for understanding and reflection.
