Complicated things happen in supercells! After the original (and most substantial) tornado of this storm finally dissipated, a newer storm formed to its southwest and merged with the original, rendering the whole thing a mess with little visual storm structure. However, the tornado work wasn’t finished. As we relocated southward through town to seek another high vantage, in response to the backbuilding process, a brief, distant, fuzzy, tornadic spinup occurred under the newer updraft. Several minutes elapsed before we found a good overlook, soon after which this better-defined third tornado developed from the same mesocyclone. This vortex immediately commenced moving southward to southwestward (right to left) beneath a turquoise cloud tone, and amidst a nearly stationary and elongated supercell complex.
