A persistent, spectacular, nontornadic supercell spun its way from the dryline west of Hereford and over town, then past this wind farm and onward to a splendid sunset in the Tulia/Happy area. Along the way, it offered outstanding, multilayered structure like this. Our attempt to get ahead of it shortly after this shot was thwarted by a deep flood over an unpaved backroad shortcut, so we had to be content with the backside view. This was the second of a wildly oscillating, high-mileage, four-day Texas chase stretch that took us from Norman to well southeast of Dallas and westward to the Hill Country on the first day, then the western Panhandle for this second-day storm, back to the Hill Country of central Texas the next day, then way up to the northern Panhandle on the fourth!
