Horse Attitudes
While we observed the wonderfully lit scene of an onrushing gust front, these friendly horses came over for some company—and in one case, a much-craved scratching of the forehead. Their casual mood and ours each would change abruptly within minutes, and from prior experience with this storm, we knew it. A blustery plume of dirt and grit carried by the leading edge of the outflow slammed through the scene, sending horses scurrying for shelter one way, and people running the other way toward the car. An experience of tranquility vanished in the dust of a gust, but its essence lives on in the intertwined imagery of mind and lens.
