After tangling with a messy complex of storms farther east near Corsicana and Fairfield, which was headed into the dense forests of east Texas, we wandered west through Waco to the Hill Country for late-afternoon to sunset convective scenes action near the earlier storms’ outflow boundary. This storm went up well to the northwest, then and traveled southeastward atop the outflow, and actually was weakening at this time. Nonetheless, it wonderfully decorated the northern sky, its light reflected in rain-filled road ruts pointed that way. I normally don’t recommend chasing in the Hill Country of central Texas, due to the choppy terrain and limited sightlines in most areas, but at least occasional wide-open views can be found. This finished off the third of four chase trips to this area in 2023. That meant there still was one left, already deep into June!
