High Plains Vista
During an unusually moist springtime, and especially after prolonged drought, relatively undisturbed parts of the American Great Plains erupt in carpets of color. Here, a dark-sky background from a stormy core and indirect sunlight through a thin spot in clouds above helped to accentuate the gaudy show of Texas Panhandle wildflowers, including vast carpets of Plains hymenoxys (Tetraneuris scaposa). Cool, moist, gentle outflow breezes carried the songs of western meadowlarks in all their joyously stereophonic glory across the vast grasslands. We rejuvenate and replenish with experiences like this every year, rediscovering both ourselves and glimpses of the Creator’s infinite beauty.
