A series of somewhat short-lived supercells had formed and gone, leaving behind abundant, highly varying low- and middle-level convective cloud residue as a foil for yet another beautiful High Plains sunset, here shown through the narrow view field of a deep zoom. This was a wonderful way to end an uncommon July chase day in northeastern New Mexico and extreme southern Colorado. Standing just a few miles from this spot the previous fall, I shot a pretty sunrise, looking in the same direction but with quite different technique.
