An unexpected blessing of a sunset scene continued to deepen over the High Plains, offering a protracted enchantment in the form of wondrous color and texture filling the eastern sky. With shadowy clouds in the west, the storm’s reflections illuminated the landscape enough that it came out in the photograph, no filter needed. Large knuckle clouds (upper middle) continued to roll across and down the backsheared side of a young supercell, conveying a slightly lighter shade of the same golden glow as the storm’s flanking towers (right). The large, back-side downburst at lower middle, with divergent rain feet either side, dumped enough precip on the dirt and gravel road several miles to the east to ensure that I wouldn’t follow the storm too far into the night, but for the time being, was a great accompaniment to the scene.
