A stratus deck with no well-defined base covered most of the downtown skyscrapers and the top part of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, a Santiago Calatrava-designed masterpiece spanning the Trinity River bottoms, off the west edge of downtown Dallas. The bridge has won several architectural and engineering awards. The 400-foot cable-support arch also can be seen, a few years after completion, in a one of my all-time favorite sunset scenes, shot from the Sylvan Avenue bridge seven years earlier.
