A heavy-precipitation, left-moving supercell had crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico, delivering severe wind, hail and flooding rains before merging with growing convection along an old outflow boundary to its east. That resulted in a short-lived but intense little storm complex, sending heavy torrents as temporary waterfalls across the stony countryside near the Pecos High Bridge, and down the side of the canyon. Indeed, the heavy rainstorm was still underway and unavoidably splattering drops on the lens filter, even with a tube cover attached. Nonetheless, I decided to include this shot, as that effect further emphasizes the overall wetness of the scene, which is unusual for this typically parched area of southwest Texas. Water runoff was fast and strong, contributing to a rising level shortly downstream at Lake Amistad in ensuing days.
