The Connecticut River long has been painted, drawn and photographed along various parts of its length down west-central New England, but seldom has been depicted quite like this. The midday sparkle of the water, through heavy timber cladding the 1911 Mt. Orne Covered Bridge, let light into the mid-structure, but only in narrow, regularly spaced slits. On the right was Vermont, on the left, New Hampshire.
